I'm ready to buy a TC29D. I'm going to use it mostly for finish mowing and mowing high grass and brush with a rotary cutter, but also plan to use for pushing snow, grading the driveway, using a rear scoop, and maybe plowing and fitting a garden in the future, and I may even get a loader some years down the road. My dealer says I can have any kind of tire, ag, turf, or industrial, for the same price. I've narrowed it down to either the turf of industrial tires. Has anyone been doing any finish mowing with the industrial tires? I'm guessing industrial tires would be fine later in the summer when the ground is dry and hard, but in the spring when the ground is wet and soft, do they leave marks and tear up the turf? Do industrial tires make a big difference for plowing and loader work? Thanks for your help.

I have that very same setup. The industrials are ok so far. I have mowed twice and it has been extremely wet here. We have had 5" of rain this month. The rear leaves an impression in the grass that vanishes after a day or two, the front have sunk in a bit in VERY wet areas (just to the depth of the tread). I can roll that out when it dries up here. The damage seems to occur when turning sharply. I am not so sure as wet as it has been, that perhaps even a turf would be doing some sinking. The turfs I had on my 4100 were great in the snow but a bit soft for the loader. With the pressure adjusted on the ind. tire so they sit flat on the ground, they ride fine. Ask your dealer to let you try them, and have the option of swapping for turfs if they are not to your liking. That is what I did (mine charged me $100 more for the industrials, he said normally they are $250 more. Somehow I doubt it.) One thing I can tell you for sure, the 72" NH deck gives a very nice looking finish to the lawn. Much better than the 4100 I had. Bottom line is that R4's are a compromise. How fussy are you with your lawn? Turf will do a better job there. Good luck. ....

Almost the same situation as Cutter. Bought our 4100 with R4's and swapped em for Turfs. The R4's are definitely a compromise on turf, but are very durable and rugged. The R4's seem indestructable, hardly wear. and handle the loader's weight with ease. I can not say the same for the Turfs. But...Mowing accounts for about 80% of our uses, which they do very well. So the turfs seemed to be the logical choice. I too had an agreement with our dealer to swap the tires/rims. Again, we went with Turfs, but I really liked the R4's. ....

Danny, I have the TC29D with R4 tires and love em! Mow about 4 acres without a problem. Most marks are made when backing in a turn. Even then next day they are gone. I don't think turf tires would last long in my pasture. Lots of thorns and saplings. R4's are great for Loader work too. Donald ....

Thanks for your responses. My TC29D with industrial tires arrives today. The dealer said I can swap them for turf tires if I want to, so I'll give them a try and then make a decision.

In case anybody is wondering, I've decided to keep the industrial tires. I've mowed the yard twice with it and have no complaints about marks left by the tires. The industrial tires do leave some marks in the wet soft areas of the yard, but the marks go away after a day two. Actually, the caster wheels on the mower do as much or more damage as the tractor tires. Where the ground is dry, there's no problem. I also used the tractor to disk my garden with a 6' wide 20 blade disk and the industrial tires worked great. The garden was still wet and muddy from last week's rain and the disk kept plugging up, but the tires never loaded up and the tractor handled the disk easily. ....
